WOMEN IN FOOD SERVICE CHARITY EVENT

September 11, 2017 @ 10:00 am - September 14, 2017 @ 6:00 pm

WOMEN IN FOOD SERVICE CHARITY EVENT RETURNS TO FINE FOOD AUSTRALIA FOR THIRD YEAR

Fine Food Australia is excited to announce that their popular Women in Foodservice Charity Event will return in 2017 for its fourth year, this time including the inaugural Women in Foodservice Awards.  Since launching in 2014, the unique event has quickly cemented its place as a show highlight, providing guests the opportunity to be inspired and learn from successful women in the industry whilst networking with peers.

Hosted at Cyren in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, this year’s event will take place over a sparkling brunch on Wednesday 13 September. A panel of industry icons will share their experiences during a discussion that will cover all aspects of the food industry.  Facilitated by food writer and restaurant critic Elizabeth Meryment, the charity event will include a stellar line up of panellists:

Christine Mansfield – one of Australia’s most celebrated chefs, Christine is renowned for being an incredible restaurateur. Now an esteemed culinary ambassador and host of bespoke gastronomic tours, Christine will have plenty to share from her inspiring career.

Vivian Zurlo – as a food and beverage innovation consultant, Vivian has worked on a wide variety of projects. Now the co-founder of Zurlo Focaccia Company, Vivian has plenty of insight to share on innovation and what it takes to launch a successful company.

Lauren Eldridge – awarded ‘Josephine Pignolet Young Chef of the Year’ in 2015, Lauren impresses with her beautiful, original desserts. Working under some of the world’s best – Massimo Bottura and Osteria Francesca – Lauren has also won the ‘Gault & Millau Potentialist of the Year’ for 2016.

Danielle Alvarez – as head chef of Fred’s in Paddington, Danielle channels creativity into everything she does. With a passion for sustainability, Danielle has spent years curating a list of local farmers whose produce make up much of Fred’s meals, and the venue’s menu is designed to showcase the integrity of the freshest ingredients.

Featuring for the first time at the charity event is the Women in Foodservice Awards, run by Foodservice News. Proudly supported by Fine Food Australia, the awards celebrate women who through dedication, drive and excellence are doing their bit to shape and grow their business and the industry. The awards will be presented in four categories: leader in a restaurant management role; leader in a front of house role; leader in a back of house role and leading woman in foodservice (restaurateur, business owner, supplier or service to the sector).

Beyond the opportunities to learn from some of the industry’s best and engage with peers, the Women in Foodservice event is also about giving back. All profits will go to two charities: Women in Hospitality, an organisation that supports and fosters career development of women in the hospitality industry, and Outback Spirit Foundation which has two goals: to help Aboriginal enterprises raise money to grow and market native ‘bush’ foods, and to facilitate agricultural and market links between buyers and sellers with their agricultural output in regional and national markets.

Minnie Constan, Fine Food Australia Event Director, sees the Women in Foodservice Charity Event as an integral part of the wider show. “Fine Food Australia is about learning, discovering, exploring and networking, and the Women in Foodservice Charity Event is all of that, with the impetus to support and encourage a section of the workforce that has previously been largely overlooked. Fine Food has always been about being at the forefront of industry innovation and change, and we’re proud to be leading the discussion on what matters.”

Fine Food Australia is the country’s largest and most relevant food and hospitality event, showcasing everything from specialty and bulk foods, beverages, cooking and hospitality equipment and machinery, to bakery products, coffee and emerging food trends. The event educational classes, demonstrations, and competitions, as well as the opportunity to build relationships, drive business, and be inspired about the industry.
