CALABRIA Family Wines, formerly known as Westend Estate, has named Emma Norbiato to the role of chief winemaker. Calabria was established in 1945 and has grown to be one of Australia’s top producing family winemakers under the leadership of director and winemaker Bill Calabria. The company is managed by the third-generation of the Calabria family, with Bill Calabria overseeing viticulture management. Norbiato joined the winemaking team in 2009. She is an award winner and has 18 vintages of winemaking experience, as well as being a senior wine show judge. Her new role of chief winemaker will see her responsible for the winemaking and stylistic direction of the Calabria Family Wines portfolio. “They say you are only as good as the sum of your parts and I am very fortunate to be part of a good team,” Norbiato said. “I am truly excited about the upcoming wine developments we have ahead for 2018, from multiple regions around Australia.”
She also paid tribute to Bill Calabria’s legacy, “Bill has been a great asset of our region and mentor to me,” she said.
