Bendigo wineries are sharing the magic of winemaking
July 7, 2018 @ 9:00 am - July 8, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

Winemaker hovering over a barrel, wine sampler in hand – tasting, testing – part science, part art. This stage of the winemaking process is pretty special so Bendigo’s winemakers are sharing it with you.
On the weekend of 7th and 8th July, Bendigo region wineries throw open the doors of their sacred barrel halls to let you in on the secret of winemaking. Barrel Tasting Weekend is an opportunity for you to taste wine straight from the barrel and meet the local winemakers.
It’s the ultimate sneak preview of the magic happening right now in wine barrels across Bendigo said Wes Vine, Bendigo Winegrowers Association President.
“Harvest is over, grapes have been crushed and fermented.”
“But that’s just the beginning of the winemaking process.”
“Barrel Tasting Weekend gives you a taste of mature wines that will make their way into bottles in the next 6 to 18 months,” said Mr Vine.
Participating wineries are BlackJack, Connor Park, Sutton Grange (Sunday only), Sandhurst Ridge, Balgownie Estate (Saturday only), and Killiecrankie.
Barrel tasting sessions will take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. There is no cost to attend but bookings are essential. Ring the winery you’d like to visit to book your spot. Better yet, make a day of it and visit more than one!
If you fall in love with a certain drop, be sure to check with the winemaker about a pre-release purchase at a special price.
