FOLLOWING on from its inaugural success in 2015, the Organic and Biodynamic Winegrowing Conference returned to Marlborough in June. With the themes Liquid, Life and Label, the Conference looked to build on the solid platform it established in 2015, where delegates were quick to praise the diverse range of presentations covering the practical as well as philosophical aspects of organic and biodynamic winegrowing for producers of all sizes and types. With NZ aiming for 20 per cent of its vineyards to be under organic farming regimes by 2020 (currently around 8 per cent certified), it was a key event for those transitioning or considering doing so, and the 2017 conference offered a strong line-up of speakers, including writer Dr Jamie Goode, BioGro CEO Donald Nordeng and grower Joch Bosworth.
