Gut Oggau winemaker dinner at Lesa
February 26, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm
$100
On Tuesday, 26 February, Lesa, the latest venture from acclaimed restaurateurs Christian McCabe and Dave Verheul (Embla, The Town Mouse) will be hosting a winemaker dinner with Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe, producers behind small-batch Austrian biodynamic wines Gut Oggau. This event is part of a series that will also pop up at award-winning restaurants Momofuku Seiobo and Ester in Sydney, as well as Franklin in Hobart.
Fully Demeter-certified, Gut Oggau wines are produced using a 200-year-old screw press on a seventeenth century winery, which had been abandoned for 20 years prior to its restoration. Before founding the Gut Oggau winery, Eduard made conventional wine with his father and Stephanie worked with her family at their Michelin-starred restaurant, Taubenkobel. Known for their unique labels designed by artist Jung von Matt, each wine was given the name and face of a family member to reflect the unique characteristics of the drop.
On the evening, a set menu will be served by Verheul, executed in his signature refined, produce-driven style.
