Very pure blackcurrant aromas layered with sweet and spicy oak elements. Generous fruit sweetness on the palate with richness of spices and good use of some classy oak.
Winemaker for family business, Paul Conti Wines. Has judged regularly at the Perth Wine Show and regional shows at Mt Barker and Swan Valley. Also involved in vintages in Tuscany and the Rhone Valley.
Winemaker for Devils Lair Wines. Previously with Wolf Blass Wines, Barossa Valley, (for ten vintages) and involved across a number of Treasury brands during this time. Trips to Oporto, Mendoza, Italy and Spain first sparked his interest in wine.
Winemaker for Deep Woods Estate, part of the Fogarty Wine Group. Graduate of Oenology in 2008. Has vintaged in Mosel (Germany), Burgundy (France) and Chianti Classico (Italy) as well as Adelaide Hills, Yarra Valley and now Margaret River.
Director of Ashbrook Estate Wines. Judge at the Perth Royal Wine Show for the past 30 years and recently panel chairman. Also panel chairman at WA Wine Show, and other regional shows. Has judged in South Africa.
