Savoury fruit aromas with light vanilla overtones and a rich chocolaty/sour cherry palate with a background of spices and nicely framed by the tannins. 5+
Born in England and moved to Australia permanently in January 2006 after living here briefly in 1997. By the end of 2006 Alex was studying a full time Diploma in Viticulture for Winemaking and had joined Allandale Winery where he remains as a winemaker today. Has travelled extensively through wine regions in Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
Winemaker for Briar Ridge vineyard. Former wine sales and distribution director for Edinburgh Cellars (SA) and East End Cellars (SA). Currently studying for WSET 4 diploma. Associate judge at the Rutherglen wine show and Sydney wine shows.
Wine writer & judge. Asian Wine Editor for Winestate. Regular judge with the Japan wine Competition and Korean wine Challenge. Contributor to world-wide wine reference books. Director of the Asian Wine Review.
Winemaker and consultant for Lowe Family Wines, plus contract winemaker for 20 years for other wineries. Judged at Hunter Valley, Canberra and Cowra wine shows. Made wine in Bordeaux for five years.
